Why Attend the 2021 Xen Project Design and Developer Summit?

It’s almost that time of year, where we gather together as a Xen Project community and geek out on one of our most favorite topics – The Xen Project, of course! This year’s Xen Project Design and Developer Summit, happening May 25-28, 2021,  is gearing up to be one of the best ones yet. If you haven’t registered yet, we’re here to explain, point by point, why this year’s event is one not to miss.

Diverse Schedule
Each year, the Xen community shows up is the CFP process, submitting some truly incredible content. This year, however, folks stepped up, both in quantity and quality. So much so that we’ve added a talk track to fit in the truly stellar talks we’ve received.  We are excited to reveal our full schedule of Xen Summit talks here: https://events.linuxfoundation.org/xen-summit/program/schedule/

We are especially proud of this year’s line-up. We have our bread-and-butter talks on ARM (Functional Safety, PCI Passthrough, and ARMv8-R), Security (Secure boot, XSM, and fuzzing) and Datacenter (Virtio, live-update, and speculative vulnerability countermeasures).  We also have a number of exciting new directions (Hyperlaunch, RISC-V port, and RunX), as well as a number of wildcard talks (Hot-swapping KVM and Xen, Atto-sized hypervisor, using dom0’s scheduler for domains).

Live Sessions
We know the general feelings around virtual events aren’t the best, but we are doing a few things to help fight zoom fatigue and keep this event fun, and informative. First, this event is happening live: we are not prerecording talks so we can get the best engagement possible with our attendees. Second, we’re spitting content up into 4 hour blocks over the course of several days. We know it can be hard to block off full days to attend virtual events, and hope this helps.

Engaged Community
Part of what makes the Xen Project Design and Developer Summit extra special is that we have an engaged community committed to improving Xen. We saw this in the submissions we saw. We also have Design Sessions, where people submit topics for discussion and these topics are voted on during the event. Design Sessions are an opportunity to workshop Xen Project topics in real time and offer an amazing opportunity to solve problems and build relationships.

Register today. We hope you’ll join us May 25-28 for this year’s Xen Project Design and Developer Summit.
